Lately I’ve been spending a lot more time on my Etsy shop and have received some love in return.
Here’s Outrechic’s treasury of UpCycled Chic where she included my Executive Handbag made from an upcycled men’s suit.

Laura Trevey, a watercolor artist and author of the Bright, Bold and Beautiful blog, graciously included my new wallet in her list of Beautiful Things

And Sunshineandshowers also included this wallet in her treasury entitled Where is the Love?

Thank you for all this love. It’s been a great week

Busy. Busy. Busy.
This is one of the things I’ve been up to: Craft Night at Etsy. The last Monday of the month is open craft night at Etsy. Bring a project and plop yourself down. The members of The {NewNew} seized the opportunity to prepare a few things for our spring extravaganza, the Spring Handmade Cavalcade, which will take place in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

On that particular night there were a doll maker, several knitters, and pattern makers in attendance. Julie sewed towels for the Etsy office to cut down on their paper towel usage, and The {NewNew} peeps arrived with bags of plastic bags cutting them up into plarn or fusing them down into sheets. . . Very mysterious.

If you happen to be in Brooklyn on a Monday afternoon/evening you should stop by the Etsy offices for some craftiness. Most Monday nights Etsy offers a specific project. On Monday the 15th, you can learn how to applique with Natalie from Alabama Chanin, and on the 22nd Kata Golda will demonstrate how to make felt finger puppets.

Thank You To Fatima & Her Family
If you can’t be there in person, craft along by entering Etsy’s virtual lab.

Well, it’s been a whirlwind week. Today I dropped off a batch of bags at 93 Nevins Street. My Etsy team scored a pop-up retail space as part of this year’s Atlantic Avenue Art Walk. If you happen to be in Brooklyn this weekend, do check out this event. It’s a self-guided tour of open artist studios and area exhibitions along Atlantic Avenue. 93 Nevins Street stood empty for 20 years until two Brooklyn developers decided to transform the space into two townhouse residences that were as green as possible. In keeping with the theme, artists with environmentally friendly products will participate the team store. Here are some of the products you may find:

Yesterday at the Spring Handmade Cavalcade, I experienced an Etsy groupie’s dream come true. Etsy was one of the sponsors of this two-day-event organized by The NewNew street team. During the craft show, Etsy generously bought and served each vendor a mimosa. By the time it was my turn, the flutes slipped off the tray and spilled in front of my display. Everything was fine, no one was hurt, only the corner of this fold-up shopping bag got a little damp. So here is your opportunity - you too can vicariously become part of that moment by entering this giveaway to win the bag that was touched by Etsy. To enter,
1. Go to etsy.com
2. Type “newnewteam” in the search field and click Search

3. From the search result page, select a product you like and copy and paste the link to the product into the comment section of this post
That’s it. The giveaway closes on Friday May 15 at midnight EST and I will pick a winner on Saturday.

Earlier this year Etsy allowed you to use Google Analytics to analyze traffic to your shop. Fantastic, except the amount of data is overwhelming and what does it all mean? Thankfully, some very generous people have written up some explanations on how to interpret the data.

Just mailed off a batch of hair accessory sets that will be included in ten raffle bags at the Spring Handmade Cavalcade.

And here is how I attach felt embellishments to ponytail holders:
First, sew the center button to the embellishment. Then sew through the button, the embellishment, and loop around the ponytail holder. Repeat this several times until you are convinced it will hold. Still using the same thread, sew on a small circle to the embellishment that covers the spot where you attached the ponytail holder to the embellishment. The felt circle will blend into the embellishment. Oh and I suggest you use button thread for a strong hold.

So, you bought your ticket to come to Brooklyn on May 9th and 10th, right?
